mBot Ranger Cannot Avoid Obstacles Correctly

This article applies to the mBot Ranger.

1. Issue Description

When running programs related to obstacle avoidance, the product does not run around the obstacle automatically, but hits it directly.

2. Possible Causes

  1. If running a self-created program, the program may be incorrect.
  2. Installation error such as wrong wiring of ultrasonic module.
  3. The ultrasonic sensor is faulty, resulting in the inability to recognize the obstacles ahead.
  4. Low/unstable battery voltage (less likely, prioritize above)

3. Troubleshooting Steps

  1. If you created an obstacle avoidance program by self, please send us the complete program file for checking and testing.
  2. By default, the ultrasonic module needs to be connected to port 10 of the Auriga board.
  1. Please test whether the ultrasonic sensor is faulty according to the article "How to Detect whether the Ultrasonic Module is Defective"
  2. If the product is currently powered by 6AA battery holder, you can switch to USB power supply to test the obstacle avoidance function. If the problem does not occur after replacement, it is recommended to replace it with new Nanfu AA batteries or use Makeblock rechargeable battery pack to power the product.
