Why mBot Mega Cannot Avoid Obstacle Correctly ?

This acticle applies to mBot Mega.

 

1. Issue Description

When running programs and preset mode related to obstacle avoidance, Ranger does not run around the obstacle automatically, but hits it directly.

 

2. Possible Causes

  1. The machine firmware version is incorrect.
  2. The infrared light emitted by the IR proximity sensor is not reflected back.
  3. The value of the potentiometer on the sensor is set too low.
  4. The sensor is affected by other light sources.
  5. The pins of the sensor's cable are not connected in the correct order.

 

3. Troubleshooting Steps

  1. If you are trying to run the obstacle avoidance mode in the preset program or the obstacle avoidance function on the Makeblock APP, please make sure to restore the product to the factory firmware first.
  2. If the infrared light emitted by the IR proximity sensor is absorbed by an obstacle, it will cause a false judgment. You can replace the obstacle with different color and material for testing.

  3. Please set the potentiometer on the sensor closer to the IR transmitter.

  4. If there is a strong light source or IR light from the IR remote controller around, you can turn it off temporarily.

  5. Refer to the following diagram to check whether the cable is correctly inserted into the corresponding pin.
