Rocky Cannot Avoid Obstacles and Recognize Colors

This article applies to Codey Rocky.
Please note: The motor may be in different states when this fault phenomenon occurs in the machine. It is necessary to troubleshoot separately according to the different operating conditions of the motor.

Issue Description

Codey Rocky cannot avoid obstacles properly and will not recognize colors correctly.

一. Rocky can move forward and backward normally but not avoid obstacles

Possible Causes

1. The program code related to obstacle avoidance or color recognition is incorrect.

2. The color sensor is inaccurate/uncalibrated

Troubleshooting Steps

1. If you are running a self-created program, please send us a program picture or mBlock file to check whether it is correct.

2. Refer to the following steps to calibrate the sensor
a. Connect Codey Rocky to mBlock software
b. Click the "Calibrate the color sensor" button in the "Setting" section

c. Follow the pop-up window prompts to calibrate. If there are no abnormalities, it will show "Calibration is successful". Otherwise, you need to repeat the operation.

二. Rocky cannot move properly as well as avoid obstacles

Possible Causes

1. The pogo pin interface may be dirty, resulting in poor contact with the device.

2. The color sensor is faulty.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Use gauze dipped in a little alcohol to wipe the pogo pin interface between Codey and Rocky, and then try to reconnect.

2. If step 1 does not solve the problem, the color sensor itself may be a bit faulty, causing the corresponding functions such as obstacle avoidance not to work correctly. You can contact the support team to confirm the next step.
