mBot Circles in One Direction

This article applies to mBot.

1. Issue Description

When running programs related to straight-moving, mBot did not move forward or backward in the original straight line, but circled abnormally in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.

2. Possible Causes

  1.  One side of the motor is faulty and cannot rotate, causing the mBot to go in circles.
  2.  One side of the motor port or mCore is faulty and cannot drive the motor to run.

3. Troubleshooting Steps

Swap the connection ports of the motors on both sides and run the motor to check the results. (i.e. switch the left motor that originally connected to the M1 port into the M2 port)
  1.  If the product rotates in the opposite direction after the swapping, then the motor on the side that rotated abnormally originally is faulty and needs to be replaced.  (For example, the product rotated counterclockwise at first, and after the swap, it turned clockwise, which means that the left motor is faulty)
  2.  If the product still rotates in the original direction after the swap, it means that the motor port or the mainboard is abnormal. In this case, we need to replace the mainboard.
