mBot Generates Offset When Moving Straight

This article applies to mBot.

1. Issue Description

When running a program related to straight running , the mBot would gradually deviate to the side and not follow the original straight line.

2. Possible Causes

  1.  Wheels are stuck, incorrectly positioned, or other parts such as screws are installed too tightly.
  2.  The motor is faulty, resulting in a difference in speed that cannot be adjusted.
  3.  The offset value is within the normal range of the motor industry.

3. Troubleshooting Steps

  1.  Please check whether the wheel is stuck by objects such as RJ25 wires, or whether the wheel on one side is screwed too tight, resulting in increased resistance and slower speed. Check and reinstall the wheel. If the tire is not installed correctly, it may be biased to touch the ground, causing speed difference and turning.
  2.  Use the motor-related building block in the figure below to fine-tune the motor speed on both sides and test to see if it is restored to normal.
  3. After excluding the first two reasons, if the car still has a slight deviation, this is normal. Because each DC motor has a speed difference in the motor industry. You can send a video of the operation process showing the fault to the support team for confirmation. If the offset value is obviously beyond the normal range, we can consider replacing a new motor.
