Why mBot Infrared Remote Control Doesn't Work?

This article applies to mBot.

1. Issue Description

When operating a line-following program or related preset mode, the product does not follow the established map route, but runs arbitrarily.

2. Possible Causes

1. Incorrect usage: the remote control operates differently under different firmware versions.
2. Abnormal power supply due to missing battery, reverse installation or insufficient power.
3. No IR signal output from the remote control.

3. Troubleshooting Steps

1. Confirm whether the product is in factory firmware or online firmware, and use the correct method to operate the remote control according to the different modes. Please refer to the article “How to use the infrared remote control” for more information on how to use the it.
2. When using the remote control for the first time, check whether there is battery in it. If so, be sure it is installed correctly and the plastic spacer attached to the battery is removed. If it has been used for a while, replace the battery with a new CR2025 one and test again.

3. Available Android system to test whether the remote control has signal output (iOS system is not supported). Turn on the cell phone camera and point it at the remote control, press any one remote control button, if a red light can be seen on it, indicating the remote control is not broken.
