How to Update mBot Firmware

This article applies to mBot.

1. Introduction

The mBot has factory firmware and online firmware. When you need to use specific functions under different firmware versions, please switch the firmware first.

2. Step by Step

1.  Download the latest version of mBlock software: https://mblock.cc/pages/downloads .
During the first installation, you will be reminded to install the serial port driver: https://www.wch-ic.com/downloads/CH341SER_EXE.html .

Or you can choose enter the Web version to operate: https://ide.makeblock.com/ (Google Chrome is recommended, please don't choose the Bluetooth direct connection method to operate the update).

2.  Push the mBot power switch to the ON position and connect the machine to the computer using the original USB cable.

3.  Open mBlock, click the device library and choose the mBot device extension to add (if there is a green arrow in the upper right corner of the device, please click the arrow to update the device plug-in first)

4.  Click Connect and note that you do not need to tick the “Show all connectable devices” box.

5.  Click “Setting” after successful connection and click on "Firmware Update". (PS: When the firmware is a low version, the setting position will automatically change to the firmware update button)

6.  After clicking Firmware Update, you can choose whether to update the online firmware or restore the factory firmware. Click on the desired firmware and wait for the update to complete.
